A Brief History of Dansville Dansville was first settled in1795 by militiaman and storekeeper Daniel Faulkner and pioneered by Nathaniel Rochester, who founded the City of Rochester located about an hour north.
In 1881, Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross right in Dansville - and today the historic home is a landmark in the area that testifies to the care and commitment of Dansville residents.
